This is my entry for the Fall Five Kodak Printer Give-Away at Sprittibee’s Blog. Kodak and Sprittibee are giving away an EasyShare 5300 printer! I didn’t realize that printers existed with $9.99 black cartridges and $14.99 color cartridges. I might actually print my pictures (what a concept!) for those prices. Pick me! Pick me!
I am choosing project choice #4: Do a photojournalism project for your school or homeschool. This is awesome timing because my two oldest daughters and I have been working on a photo project all month.
Our Photo Shoot
Our Keepers at Home group is studying photography for the months of September and October and the girls were assigned to submit 3 pictures: a macro “guess what?” picture, a great picture, and a “needs help” picture. One morning last week my 10- and 7-year-old daughters and I went on a 3-hour photo shoot, which included hiking to the top of a local mountain. These pictures are a glimpse into our month-long photography project.
Here were my 10-year-old’s submissions:
Can you guess what?
Although the image quality isn’t the best, everyone’s favorite 2-year-old, Miss Lily, was a shoe-in for the great picture category.
The “needs work” aspect is little sister’s head in the corner of the picture. It’s amazing the number of shots around here in which that child manages to appear…
Next are my 7-year-old’s submissions:
I think this was the only “guess what?” photo at the Keepers’ meeting that no one was able to guess. Leave me a comment if you think you know!
My daughter was asked what photo effect she used to get the nice blurry glow. In truth, I think she just didn’t stand still long enough to focus!
Once again, a sister in the picture.
As a mom, I wasn’t officially supposed to submit photos, but I snapped away with my girls all month. I usually take a lot of pictures, but it was extra enjoyable having these additions to the family photo crew. Some of my pictures documented the project itself:
Here are some of my favorites from our mountain hike:
Here are some from the past month that I especially like:
I hope you enjoyed our photojournalism project. The winning entry gets a Kodak EasyShare 5300 printer! This would be awesome for us because I never, I repeat never, print any of my pictures. If you read this blog very often, you know I take plenty. I am seriously blown away by how affordable the ink is for this Kodak printer.

Amazing shots!
Thoroughly enjoyed your entry!

I love the pictures of your girls, very beautiful. And I think that your 7 year old’s “guess what” picture is a piece of a hot dog.

Hi, Dawn!
I think the first one is a tree trunk and the second is a scoop of sorbet or sherbet. ???

So many amazing photos, Dawn. I’m guessing your seven year old’s photo is a donut hole.

What kind of camera do you have? It takes gorgeous pictures! Does it do black and white as well or did you just do it with software? Thanks!

Nice pics! I think the first “guess what” is tree bark and the second is a hush puppy.

The mystery picture is a piece of sausage!
