I love telling my 4-year-old daughter that I can’t remember all of Dora’s name, just to hear her say “Dora Saplora” (Dora the Explorer).
I remember how upset my parents got when my sister and I learned to say something properly, when they really loved “our” versions of it. I felt the same way last week when Lily started saying “Chick-fil-a” instead of “Chick-a-lay.”
When we were hiking up Amicalola Falls last week, a shirtless jogger passed us and Lily started yelling, “He’s nekkid!” At least he laughed.

Oh I know what you mean! Mother Dear won’t let the kids teach the others how to properly say certain things because she loves the way they say them! LOL Too cute.

Oh how funny! We say naked too. If anyone is not fully clothed or modestly clothed to show no skin or anything, then we call then naked… we get weird looks too if we are talking about clothes at the store and we say naked. lol… that is really funny!

I can’t think of anything my kids still mess up on. Such a travesty. One of the last things to go was calipitter. I used to say it wrong so they would continue to say it the cute way.
Morgan was the funniest. She really skewed the language! She called vitamins “bite-a-dome’s”. Kool-Aid was “cool-up”. Raspberries were “ungumpees”. She was a hoot.
Kaden was my little Mr. Precise. He could make his animal noises and say bye and hi and Daddoo by age 9months! The doctor was astounded. Two of his first words (before Christmas time – he was born in Feb) were HOT and WATCH. He pronounced them PERFECTLY. He said them slow and precise – emphasising the t and tch really loudly. It was soooooooo cute. Makes me sad to think he’s not my little munchkin anymore!
It isn’t so cute at 11 when you say hot and watch. ;) Unless you say, “Mama, I love you so much that I bought you this hot watch from the mall!” LOL

Okay, here come the admission. While in Florida I could not seem to get the Chick-fil-a thing either and kept calling it Chick-a-fil. Dyslexic I guess.
And let me say, I get more fun out of listening to my wee one with her sweet little words all backwards and upside down. I grieve the age of six when they really start getting all the words right.

When I told my 4 yr. old daughter that some friends got a Toy Poodle she told her Daddy they got a Play Puppy! :o) My son used to say pop-ick-sicle for popsicle and if anyone corrected him I’d tell them to leave him alone! It was so cute!
