I’m normally very wary of insects, especially ones with stingers on their backsides. The quest for a good shot seems to have deadened my instinct to flee, and instead I find myself pushing in as close as possible, ignoring the buzzing around me as the bees and wasps circle my head, moving from flower to flower. Oh, what I wouldn’t give for a macro lens!

Those are stunning! Very nice shots. I know what you mean about flying, stinging things. I do a crazy wild woman dance when they’re anywhere near me. Yet I can get all up close when they’re sitting on a flower, just for a shot.

Cool shots! I’m not a huge insect fan either, but the detail and colors are
great.

I am loving the second photo with all that green and then the pop of orange from the (tiny yet menacing-looking flying insect that I can’t identify). Great photo! I share your longing for a macro lens. But you’ve done well with what you have!
Happy WW!

When I look at that second shot the line “I think I can, I think I can” comes to mind. Such tenacity!

Great shots, except that the second gives me the willies. We had those things swarming out of our register for WEEKS. Ugh.

Your hostas look beautiful. It’s no wonder they are attracting the insects. Great shots even without a macro. I’m wishing for one also.

What cute little things! I always loved hostas - they grew so well in my Washington garden and kept coming up year after year even when I thought they’d died.
