Wordless Wednesday: Glad to have Gladiolas

by Dawn on July 1, 2008

in Wordless Wednesday

Please don’t leave because of that lame title. I really am glad my husband planted these gladiola bulbs for me last summer.

Please visit my photoblog for another Wordless Wednesday!

And you should be glad! That bright pink(?) against the green foliage and blue sky make for a lovely photograph. Do gladiolas have a nice aroma? (I’m so not familiar with flowers!)

Happy WW, again! (I came over from the shots of your daughter’s toes.)

That’s the thing with bulbs – you plant them and have to wait forever to see any results. Thankfully, the results are usually incredibly beautiful. Nice photo.

I remember landscaping a yard back in college and my friend and I planted about 100 bulbs all over the place, but didn’t tell the owners. They were blown away when everything came up and bloomed. It was a fun surprise, which they were thrilled to see.

I really like your gladiolas! They are very pretty. I can remember digging up my grandmother’s tulip bulbs and cutting them in half, I hated it, but the result the next year was so nice.

I have them planted all over our property. None have started blooming yet, but soon we will have hundreds! I have noticed that some of the best colors, after a few years revert back to a less desirable color.

Happy WW!

What a gorgeous color! I associate gladiolas with my grandmother. She grew them and loved them. I’ve always liked them too. This is such a beautiful delicate color.

Lovely shot! I love them too…used to have a bouquet of them in my house all the time until my partner’s allergies put a stop to it.

Love them! They are so old fashioned, reminds me of the scene in It’s a wonderful Life after the pool scene where they are standing in front of a house with glads in the garden behind them, wish it was in color. Thanks for sharing! Mine is not as pretty but impactful. Nice blog!
