Weekly Verse

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Wordless Wednesday: Emerging from the Shadows

September 16, 2008

Our first three children were sons; we’ve been a serious sports family for a long time. We now have four girls and four boys, with the fourth son tucked in the middle of of the girls, much younger than his big brothers.

Because games are played in multiple parks across our county and we have two older boys playing, our youngest son has never been on a baseball team (or any other organized sport, for that matter). Unfortunately, my husband and I can’t be more than two places at a time, and we can’t risk the possibility of three boys with three games at the same time at three different parks.

Saturday marked the athletic debut of our youngest son, who just turned seven. He ran cross country in his first meet. Amazingly, he passed both of his older sisters who were in his race (comprised of six to eleven year olds) and had the best time of the ten runners in this age group on his team.

Afterward, he told his dad that he kept thinking, “I can’t fail my team! I can’t fail my team!” Precious boy.

BTW, that’s not bad white balance in the picture, his face is just that red.

Congratulations to him! What a great job on his first cross country race. :) Yep, I know about those red faces. Both my oldest run track but cross country turned out to be a little much for them.
