Wordless Wednesday: Halftime Show

September 23, 2008

I’ve had some fun shooting Friday night high school football lately. I love capturing the movement of the flags!

Please stop by my photoblog for another football-themed WW!

When I was in band, I didn’t initially have much respect for the girls on “flag line”… then one of my friends joined the flag line and I tried twirling her flag about. My opinion changed drastically and immediately. Wow, that is a tough job. And they have to keep smiling throughout!

Great capture. My graduating highschool’s colours were red and black, too. This photo was reminiscent.

    Happy WW!

The HS band looks good! I can’t say I was real impressed when I visited one of our home games and watched the band and flags at half time.

I like flag blur. A little blur goes a long way to showing an action shot. :)

My younger son spent six years in various bands in middle and high school (and at various camps) and is in his junior year as a Music Ed major. Eventually you may find him on the sidelines with his own band on the field.

Color guards often are overlooked in high school bands. It’s not until you get into nationally recognized programs or something like DCI where color guards are recognized as an integral part of the ensemble.

Great shot here. Love the contrast of motion on a still backdrop. Very cool.
