I ♥ Faces Kids: Creative Crop (week 9)

by Dawn on March 9, 2009

in Lightroom,features,iHeartFaces,photography

It’s time for week nine of the iHeartFaces photo contest! This week’s theme is “Creative Crop” and the guest judge is Elaine Heasley.

This is my five-year-old daughter and fourteen-year-old son. I can’t believe I forgot to reset the white balance when I took this photo, especially considering I’m a bit obsessive about it. That’s why I desaturated it; now I really like the end result.

My goal was to get the right crop when I took the shot, so there wasn’t any additional cropping applied.

This is great! I love tight crops and having them both together is so creative.

I’ve been thinking about the white balance lens cap! Is it consistant? Tricky? Produce the shots you want each time??? Give me the goods, sistah!

Very cool! Accidentally perfect? The crop is what makes it, though..with just enough of each, and just enough color in her lips to brighten it up. LOVE it!

BLAH BLAH BLAHger, the white balance lens cap is awesome! I wasn’t using it since I took these pictures outside, however my white balance was at a custom setting from the last time I’d used it.

I love the lens cap and can’t live without it; after I used it I had to buy it, because I just couldn’t give it up.

Pam, yes, I added back the color in her lips. I thought it was “just enough but not too much.” :-)

Congratulations on being the second winner for the kids crop! I love your photo. BTW….please join me for Scenic Sundays. It’s a new photography meme I created. It focuses more on the beautiful places rather than the beautiful faces. Hope to see you there!
