Atlanta Braves’ Homeschool Day 2009

I got my new camera last Wednesday, but have been too busy to really have a chance to use it. All that changed today when we took a field trip to Turner Stadium for the Atlanta Braves’ 2009 Homeschool Day, a true photo opportunity. It’s been a long day, so they’re all straight out of camera (SOOC).

We got to walk around the edge of the field before the game!

My son’s dream is to be a professional baseball player, so I took his picture beneath the 400 feet marker in deep center field.

My sweet baby girl wanted to carry my camera bag, which I thought was just too cute.

The first pitch as viewed from the nosebleed section:

I really meant nosebleed section. Look at this view:

Obviously, this was a densely populated section of seating:

Past a certain point, kids at a baseball game typically start getting antsy:

The thumb saves the day.

To keep from being prohibited from entering the stadium with my camera—and because it won’t fit in my little camera bag (which gets searched at the gate, anyway)—I only took my 50mm lens. No great action shots of the game were captured, but fortunately lots of action in the stands.

It sounds like you have a very supportive community. I wish that were the case in NY. I’m so happy for your children!

Nice shots, Dawn! LOL Sometimes just watching the kids being antsy is more fun than the game itself.

Wow, your photos are fabulous – you have such an eye, and the colours are vibrant! I really wish we had activities like this for homeschoolers where I live. What a perfect excuse to network, socialise and bond. Homeschooling can be such a daunting prospect for newbies, that a personalised support network is ideal :o)
