iHeartFaces: Sun Flare (week 46)

This week’s themes at iHeartFaces is “Sun Flare” and the guest judge is Becker.

We were at the park last week and my kids were playing and so of course I was photographing them. This particular park is close to where my older kids take music lessons, and over the years I’ve gotten some shots with beautiful lighting because of the time of day when the younger ones and I are there killing time there, waiting.

I didn’t realize that this week’s challenge was sun flare. I just happened to decide to give it a try. It’s a technique I love but have never really tried. I realize that the exposure is a tricky thing, and I wish I’d had my light meter. I tweeted something like, “In 140 char or less, what’s the secret to lens flare,” and got no response.

I would love to see the result if I’d properly exposed the foreground, but still I’m glad to have a photo so I can play along this week.

I think this is a lovely shot, despite the dark foreground. It was a very moody feel – and it’s very pretty :D

Awww… precious photo!

I know that Randy (boybarianphoto) did a post with sun tips for sunflare at i heart faces. Apparently, lower quality glass helps! Haven’t switched my good lens off yet though.
