Kodak Pulse Wi-Fi Enabled Digital Frame

We just got our Kodak Pulse WiFi-enabled digital frame this week, but I wanted to review it quickly in case any of you are looking for a last minute Mother’s Day gift!

Traditional digital frames operate with a memory card inside—and you can use a memory card in the Pulse—but you’d be missing the point on what’s really fabulous about this frame: the Kodak Pulse can connect to your wireless network, thereby allowing you to add photos wirelessly.

Amazing, right? But wait, there’s more!

You can create your frame’s own, personal email address and send pictures from any computer or mobile phone. This also allows (trusted!) friends and family to send photos to your frame.

I want to share our experience with the first two days of using the Kodak Pulse frame, and then give you a list of its features.

Set up was easy. I just plugged it in and it detected our wireless network; I entered the network password, and it was good to go. All of this was done using the frame’s touchscreen.

Next I went to the Kodak Pulse website on my computer and registered for an account using the 6-digit activation code that the frame gave me after I connected it to our wireless network. I created our frame’s own, personal email address, which can be used for adding photos.

Initially, I imagined that I would email all the pictures to the frame. In reality, I’m emailing photos from my iPhone, but most of the photos I’m uploading straight from my computer through the Kodak Pulse website.

I’m much better about printing photos now than in my early days with digital, when I never printed anything. Sadly, though, many images are never viewed beyond my computer screen; in reality, that might mean that I’m the only one who sees them.

I’m embracing Kodak’s vision of sharing my photos, and the Pulse is helping me to do it.

A variety of display options can be configured using the touchscreen. My 13-year-old daughter likes to set it to as a collage, where one image at a time changes. I prefer single images that pan in and out of view.

The kids love seeing new photos appear. Where I’m normally a “show ‘em your best work” kind of gal, that doesn’t seem to be the case here. iPhone shots taken at Build-a-Bear or eating ice cream at Chick-fil-a rotate through the frame next to my best stuff. This is for the family, and I’m giving them what I think they’ll enjoy the most.

Does it sound silly to say this frame makes us happy? It does. I would love to give them to all the grandparents and my aunt.

Our 19-year-old son will be leaving for college in August. He told us that he would email images to the frame all the time, even things drawn on his laptop. I’m sending the frame’s email address to our oldest son who’s already in college, too. How much fun it will be to find new pictures that they’ve added to our frame!
