With eight kids, we’ve had babies and toddlers for a long time. Over the past year it’s been a strange feeling to no longer need diapers, or much of anything from that department. The mental transition has come along gradually, the feeling that our family has moved past the baby stage. But this was the biggie…
This week my baby turned five.
No more clothing sizes that end in a “T.”
No help needed with those candles (although mom’s not ready for her to give up the floaties!).
Holding hands with boys. Oh, dear!
We’ve got one son in college and a second starting in August, but moving permanently beyond the baby stage has taken time for me to grasp. I feel ready for it now, although they’ll always be my babies. :-)
