31 Days of Encouragement - Day 5

Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase:
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
~Proverbs 3:9-10

31 Days of EncouragementHonoring the Lord with your first fruits is easier for me in some areas than others. Presenting myself and my family as a living sacrifice, clean and in our best each Sunday, isn’t difficult. Putting money in the offering plate when I’m worried about groceries, bills, and gasoline for the week is harder.

It takes a lot of trust to walk by faith.

My sister gave money, although she didn’t have the cash to spare, to a woman she saw last week; she just felt led to help. Later she received an unexpected financial blessing.

Although we don’t give in order to receive, it’s amazing how the the Lord blesses when we give our first fruits and trust Him to take care of the rest.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” ~ Matthew 6:33

Beautiful and timely post. So many times I have “wanted” to do something but not had the money. This year I am doing something each month, some RAK. I just think it’s healing and really trusting.

Remembering that God gave us His very best – Jesus – is good for thinking about giving Him our first fruits. He’s worthy of so much. And He’s always faithful to us. Even when we aren’t. What a glorious blessing!

It’s true. !0% of everything in our life belongs to Jesus.

What is that fruit? It’s gorgeous! I feel sooo blessed just by being able to give when I can. That in itself is such a gift and yet, I find myself sometimes holding back when I know I could give more. Thanks for the encouragement!

Melinda, I have absolutely no idea what that fruit is. I took this picture on a photo walk in Asheville, NC, in the downtown area.
