Listening to music makes me happy, but I don’t do it nearly enough. We parents can’t always get away with plugging in a set of headphones and tuning out the rest of the world. That’s why I’m so excited about the DECK Bluetooth speaker by Sol Republic and Motorola: I can play my music anywhere, anytime by pairing my cell phone or iPad with this sleek, flashy, and compact speaker.
If your mother or father love music, the DECK would make an awesome Mother’s or Father’s Day gift. It’s making this mama awfully happy.
Don’t let the diminutive size fool you: this speaker packs a punch.
Powered by 360° Full Sound, DECK lets you experience incredible sound with friends from anywhere in the room. Roam the party and still play your songs with super-power wireless that gives you up to 300 feet of freedom. Up to 5 people can pair with the device at once and take turns controlling the music. Hit the Outdoor Mode button for a boost in sound you can hear further away. Use the Stereo-Out jack to share and control music through your home or car stereo. You can even daisy chain several DECKs together for a wall of sound. Plus you can seamlessly switch from playing tunes to talking to your friends with our crystal-clear speakerphone.
The DECK connects via Bluetooth, which is NOT dependent on a wifi connection. Our vehicles don’t have the capability to connect to our phones and play music, but I’ve used my DECK in our car.
I love its small size, carrying case, and long battery life. My DECK even talks to me; when I turn it on it tells me if the battery is full or almost full, and it tells me—while using it—when the battery is low.
It’s so easy to pick up the DECK and move it where I am—in the kitchen while I cook; the bathroom while I shower and get ready; or a central spot in the house. The sound really travels.
I haven’t told my kids about Heist Mode, which allows up to five people to simultaneously pair with it and share control. For now, that’s my little secret!
Last week I took my DECK to the Classical Conversations high school class that I teach and used it to administer a music history test and play selections from the audio book of the Screwtape Letters, which we’re reading—all this simply by pairing with my iPad. I made a special playlist for my (in)RL party last weekend and used the DECK to play it.
With time, I can’t imagine all the ways I’ll use this speaker!
Y’all, I seriously love it.
My new DECK is Lemon Lime, but it also comes in Gunmetal, Electro Blue and Vivid Red. No matter the color, that’s one gorgeous speaker!
As much as kids grumble about their parents’ music—I did it, too—I believe it’s an important connection between us. My favorite song was released when I was 1 year old and I’m sure it made little impact on me at the time, but my daddy’s music became my own. I believe music can connect us and I love sharing this part of myself with my kids.
Find the DECK at Best Buy, Amazon (<—affiliate link), or your favorite electronics dealer. Buy one for your mom or dad in this season when we celebrate them, or win one right here!
