My almost 96-year-old great-aunt passed from this life early last Wednesday morning. We took our children to the hospice center to see her Tuesday night, and I was touched by the image of my daughters holding her hand. Although I wanted to capture it, I didn’t have my camera. My son suggested the one on my phone, which I used to take this picture. My aunt passed away about 5 hours after this was taken. I hope it touches you as much as it does me.

wow. that does touch me since we’ll likely be seeing my grandfather for the last time of his life tomorrow. he’s fading fast., but it is his time. he’s ready.

This image is poetic almost; it’s as if your great aunt was touching the future. In a very real sense, she was.
To me this photo speaks beauty and richness and life…even in the face of death. Soooo thankful for the wisdom of your son :).
Dawn, it is priceless…truly. It needs to be framed. It really sums up all the wonderful things about her life…that although she was never married or a mother, her life was filled with youth and love and family, until the very end. Your family has the wonderful distinction of being known for being THERE for each other. I love how Bryan takes on superpowers to allow you the freedom to go and be there for the passing of your sweet Aunt. You all “get” what it means to be a family…thats one of the many reasons I love you so much!

I saw this story over at DPS and it touched me… A grown man with a tear in his eye – normal these days, but lovely to be inspired to emotion amidst a horrible work day. Well done on capturing this moment with what you had on you at the time, i’m sorry for your loss. Beautiful image.
