This blog is powered by WordPress, sweet tea, gummy bears, my Nikon, Photoshop, and bloggable moments provided by my husband and our eight children. I hope it substitutes in some small way for incomplete baby books and unfilled photo albums.

My web design business is Barefoot Blog Designs, I'm an author at the Homeschool Blog Awards, and my friend Melissa and I help little girls look their best with Love-Me-Knots.

Only 6?

May 28, 2008

My Homeschool Blog Awards buddy Trish @ A Joyful Heart tagged me for the 6 Quirky Things meme. Here are the rules:

* Link to the person who tagged you.
* Mention the rules in your blog.
* Tell about six unspectacular quirks of yours.
* Tag a new set of six following bloggers by linking to them.

Okay, here goes:

  1. I type with my toes. Usually I don’t realize I’m doing it, until my husband notices and asks, “What are you typing?”
  2. I don’t eat seafood. It sort of freaks me out. I wish I liked it, though.
  3. This is the opposite of one Trish posted: I almost always have on shoes or house shoes (unless I’m at the beach or pool or walking in a stream). Kind of funny considering I run Barefoot Blog Designs, huh?
  4. I really like doing laundry.
  5. I have over 4000 fonts on my computer.
  6. When I take a pan of brownies out of the oven, I drizzle melted butter over the top. YUM!

For my 6 tags, I choose Robin, Dianne, Sprittibee, Andrea, Melissa, and Donna. Want to play?

Pensieve’s Poetic License: May Celebrations

May 8, 2008

I’m trying to be a sport and participate in Pensieve’s Poetic License, but this is really just awful.

Just who are these Five Guys,
Who lure me with their Famous Burgers and Fries
National Hamburger Month gives me a good excuse,
Although my husband will realize it’s just a ruse.

Project Green: Test your horticultural knowledge!

April 26, 2008

My aunt and I saw this tree while walking through a park today. Neither of us remembered ever seeing a flowering tree with blooms this color (although I confess mine have been intensified by The Pioneer Woman’s Photoshop action “Fresh & Colorful”).

Can you identify it?

Check out even more green on my new photoblog.

Project Green: Moss

April 21, 2008

Is it just me, or is moss fascinating? This shot is from our favorite local park.

I don’t think you can get much greener than moss for the start of Project Green at Anna Carson Photography:

Project Looking Through

April 19, 2008

Project Looking Through is a neat photo meme hosted by Regular Life. Here’s the scoop: “The only requirement is the sensation of looking through something. That keeps it specific enough to keep us focused, but vague enough to free up everybody’s creativity.”

This is a shot I took recently from inside my church. My eye was drawn to the blooming tree beyond this window.  I like the way the interior is black and the outdoors light.

Project Yellow: Take Eleven Three

April 16, 2008

Today is the final day of Project Yellow. Since I was a late starter, this is only my third of the eleven installments, so I’ll make good use of it and display three splashes of this lovely color (some shots more lovely than others).

These flowers caught my eye yesterday since I was on the lookout for yellow:

This was from a mountain hike last week:

I have kids, so this one explains itself:

Lemonade Stand

April 14, 2008

I found another photo for this round of Project Yellow. This is a Yankee Candle tart burner that I received in a Christmas party gift exchange. We swapped nice gifts, but with white elephant rules; I was afraid that someone would try to nab my cute little lemonade stand.
