Learning to play volleyball at Keepers at Home (because every homemaker should be a wicked awesome volleyball player).

59/365
My son and I had a photo shoot for his senior pictures. Here’s one as we’re wrapping up, when his little sister wanted him to stop and hold her awhile.

60/365
I had to use a picture of my dinner at Five Guys taken with my camera phone since it was the only picture I took that day. Sad, I know.

61/365
This is my 7-year-old son’s first season playing baseball and he loves it.

Missing!

35/365

Missing! (What can I say? Loserville. I was actually in a bit of a funk because my husband got his second pay cut of the year this week, so that’s my excuse.)

36/365

Don’t other people take pictures of suds on their stove? Really? Oh.

37/365

This is my youngest, whom I call The Precious. About an hour after I hit the road to Nashville to attend BlissDom, the phone rang telling me that she had cut her hair and now had bangs. Apparently the hair was hanging in her eyes while she was coloring, so she had to cut it, right? I was horrified. I’m starting to get used to it, and thankful that she didn’t cut off more. Unfortunately, she cut off some hair on one side that goes beyond the bang area, but it will grow. It could definitely be worse.

Don’t laugh. My daughter fell and busted her lip, so I spent the late afternoon/early evening at emergency care with her; it was my son’s 14th birthday, so I had a movie date with him after I got home. A late bedtime arrived and alas, I had no Project 365. This photo is of the washing machine running in the dark, one of the last things I do before going to bed (run the washer, not take pictures of it).

23/365

I mentioned the busted lip. Here’s my sweet baby sleeping, looking so angelic and fragile.

24/365

Sometimes when our kids finish one of their school books, we have a celebratory pizza party.

25/365

I grabbed the camera, turned around, and took some shots of the kids so that I wouldn’t post this without a picture from today. I like this one.

I’m killing two birds with one stone here: Project 365 and the A B See Photo Meme at The Homeschool Post. I posted last week’s Foto Friday there, using my “A.” Today I’ve got “B” for Botany. We started Jeannie Fulbright’s Exploring Creation with Botany today. We had been doing her Astronomy book, but we started teaching it in our homeschool co-op this week, so I thought we might as well move along to the next book. This is one of the beauties of homeschooling: we’re starting a new subject in mid-January!

After discussing classification system of taxonomy used by scientists, we played a game called “Shoe Taxonomy” (believe me, I’m not creative enough to come up with this stuff–it was in the book). We had about 15 shoe “singles” on the table, and the kids had to divide them into 4 kingdoms, then 2 phyla, 2 classes, and 2 orders. It was neat seeing the different ways they separated them: color, size, gender of owner, laces vs. zippers. etc.

[I may start consolidating the Project 365 pics into one or two days per week.]

The only photos I took today were from our first day of co-op. To be perfectly honest, they weren’t terribly exciting, but I don’t want to bail on Project 365 after a mere 8 days!

I decided to have a little fun editing, though. While the kids were in music classes this afternoon, I read the December issue of Photoshop User (by the way, if you join NAPP using my referral links, they’ll send you The Best of Photoshop User: The Tenth Year DVD as a bonus gift) at the library. One of the Lightroom tips involved using the adjustment brush to paint on “desaturation” – basically, painting saturation with the slider as far as it will go to the left (-100).

I desaturated everything in the photo except my son and his school work, and then applied Matt Kloskowski’s Nostalgic Effect pre-set and applied some vignetting.

Today I’m taking a different spin on Project 365. This photo was taken last summer, but I used it to create this entry for a contest at Planet Photoshop today. I’m thankful that there’s no way to see the quantity or quality of the other entries, or I would have surely been too chicken to submit. Ignorance is bliss, yes?

My five-year-old daughter, whose picture I used, wants it printed for her to color. :-)

I love the way my youngest falls sound asleep in the afternoons, if we can just keep her still. She curled up with her sister on their little Dora couch watching Wall-E this afternoon, and this is what I found later in our bedroom floor.

[I'm not sure why we bother getting her dressed in the mornings, because she always changes into dress-up clothes, as you see here.]
