For years the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/Smoky Mountain National Park area has been one of our favorite places for family vacations and anniversary trips and we followed the story of the fires that swept through the area in late November.
On Sunday afternoon we had a chance to see how it looks, in person, three months later.
We were happy to see the things that were unharmed—like our favorite Gatlinburg restaurant No Way Jose’s, where we stopped for lunch—but sad to see the charred remains of destroyed homes and buildings and the damage to the national forest.
I took this month’s calendar photo at an overlook in the Smoky Mountain National Park, south of the burned forest area. It’s got the Pixel Bender affect that I tried in January. This month’s calendar verse from Revelation 21 reflects my hope that the Lord will restore the area and make all things new again.
If you would like to support the Smoky Mountain region, here are two sites I found that sell Smokies Strong tees and donate a portion of the sales dollars to help the people in that area.
